Frequently asked questions
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and Android phones and tablets with Android 10 or later that have a microphone.
The tuner does not react when I play.
Check that the app is allowed to use the microphone: on iOS in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, on Android in Settings → Apps → the app → Permissions. If access is on, close other apps that may be using the microphone, such as a call or a recording app, and open the tuner again.
The reading jumps around. How do I get a steady note?
Play one string at a time and let it ring, in a room that is as quiet as you can manage. Hold the phone close to the guitar's body or sound hole. To tune a single string without the tuner switching to another, tap that string at the bottom of the screen; tap it again to go back to automatic detection.
Which tunings are included?
Guitar: Standard, Drop D, Half Step Down, D Standard, Drop C, Open G, Open D, Open E, DADGAD and 7-String Standard. Bass: 4-string and 5-string standard. Ukulele: standard gCEA. For anything else, turn on Chromatic mode in the tuning picker.
What does Chromatic mode do?
Instead of matching the strings of a tuning, the tuner shows the nearest note of the scale. Use it for other instruments or for tunings that are not in the list.
Can I tune to A = 432 Hz, or to another reference?
Yes. In Settings, move the Concert pitch reference anywhere from 415 to 466 Hz. Reset to 440 Hz brings back the usual standard.
How close does a string have to be to count as in tune?
Within ±5 cents by default. Change it under Accuracy in Settings, from ±1 cent for recording to ±15 cents for a quick tune.
Can I turn off the vibration?
Yes. Turn off Haptic feedback in Settings.
Does the app record me?
No. Sound is analysed in memory while the tuner is on screen and then discarded. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent, and the app does not connect to the internet. See the privacy policy.
Which languages does the app support?
English and Vietnamese. The app follows your device language; on Android you can also choose it per app in Settings → System → Languages → App languages.
